Our first Spring hike and Terry is hosting!

Note: Next month, we'll start hikes an hour earlier,

so enjoy this last 10am hike!

The Flatirons Vista, Spring Brook to Goshawk Trails forms an easy/moderate 8+ mile trail with very little elevation gain. The trail leads westward through open stands of ponderosa pine and offers spectacular views of the Flatirons before the junction with the Doudy Draw Trail. During the week it shouldn't be too crowded, but expect to share the trail with runners and bikers. Dogs not allowed on Goshawk Trail.

Directions to the Trailhead: Located .03 miles south of Hwy 128 on Hwy 93. From Denver, follow I-25 north to US36 Boulder Turnpike. Exit US36 at the first Broomfield Exit. Turn left at the light onto Hwy 287 and follow south to Hwy 128. Turn right on Hwy 128 and follow west towards Highway 93. The trailhead is on Hwy 93 north of Golden and south of Boulder.

From Golden, follow Hwy 93 North to the trailhead.

Parking: Meet in the FREE Greenbelt Plateau parking lot located across the street from Flatiron Vista. It's located .01 east of Hwy 93 on Hwy 128. We'll park here and cross together at the light. Or you can pay $5 and park at Flatiron Vista. It's free if you're a Boulder resident. Bathroom located at Flatiron Vista.

Optional Lunch after the hike at Old Chicago (110 beer choices!) located at 100 Superior Plaza, Superior, CO 80027, 7[masked]. Just a short drive from the trailhead.

Important Note: This is a participate at your own risk event!

This was my first Boomer hike and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know how to do a "good to see you", so good to see you.

Great hike. We know it'll be muddy in mud season. It's the price of spring! Thanks Terry - good time. Nice to see new faces too.

Sorry to cancel this late but I do not have the proper gear for this hike. I hope one of you who are waiting will enjoy having the spot. Have fun...

It looks like great weather for this hike but it's possible that we might see some ice in areas that don't receive sun. So definitely bring your traction devices. Mud is also a strong possibility. My cell is[masked] if there's any questions.

Just a warning: We are limited to 24 people by Open Space regulations. Deb takes a dim view of people who cancel at the last minute when there is a waiting list.

All park visitors whose motor vehicles are not registered in Boulder County must possess either a daily or annual permit to park on Flagstaff Mountain or in Gregory Canyon. As of 6/27/11, parking fees for vehicles not registered in Boulder County also apply to Doudy Draw, Flatirons Vista and South Mesa Trailheads.
