Wine Tasting on Independence Day Eve

For those of you who do not want to start the holiday with a "bang", but want a more mellow way to celebrate, here's another option.  The recently refurbished restaurant in the Sheraton Hotel near 4th and Union in Lakewood, La Cave, is offering a wine-tasting the evening of July 3.  For $20, you can try about 6 samples of wines from around the world and various hors d'oeurves passed among the guests.

Afterwards, if we are still hungry or want to try more of the wines we tasted, we can stay and enjoy the casual but classy ambiance of the restaurant.  After all, most of us don't work the next day.

If you don't want to drive, the Federal Center Light Rail Station (West Line) is only 2 blocks south of the Sheraton Denver West Hotel (a safe and easy walk).  The trains run about every 8 minutes during rush hour (leading up to and past 5:30) and every 15 minutes after 7 pm. The West Line connects with other LRT routes at Auraria West.  Also, if you come a little late, that probably is not a problem.

As always, please keep your RSVP current if you say you are going, and then your plans change.

Thanks to all of you who showed up last night. I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I did! Nothing like having the chef come out to chat with us as well as meeting the co-owners of La Cave.

As we were winding down in the bar area, I recalled that I've already scheduled a BBSC "Night at the Movies" at the Historic Elitch Theater for the evening of July 26, so I can't host our group at La Cave's follow-up dinner, matching some of the wines we tasted last night to a several course meal on the 26th. I do encourage any of you who want to attend the dinner on your own to do that. You won't hurt my feelings if you want to skip the movie (this time, anyway!). ;)

I expect to set up another La Cave wine-tasting (Oregon wines), perhaps next month (first Wednesday of August), and then offer the chance to attend the follow up dinner on the last Friday of August. Stay tuned if you are interested!

I increased the number of attendees to 18, but that's it! And again, if you RSVP'd "yes", but need to cancel, please be sure to update your status. I need to let La Cave know our numbers early tomorrow afternoon.

If your plans change and you don't expect to attend this event, please update your RSVP as soon as you can so those on the waiting list have a chance to take your place. Thanks!
