A holiday tromp in the snow! Bring a holiday treat to share! Feel free to wear something festive!
Two groups of 14 each, fast and faster, each go opposite directions on the trail. We'll meet in the middle and share holiday cheer! Hopefully this will work and everyone gets to hike! Please keep your RSVP accurate.
The Rawhide Loop Trail is a 6 mile moderate to difficult trail with 1000 feet of elevation gain. The trail circles White Ranch Park's highest meadows and rolling hills with varied terrain and exceptional views.
Bring a lunch/snacks/drink to enjoy on the trail. Feel free to bring a holiday treat to share when we meet in the middle! Bring a ziploc bag or container to collect your treats!
Dog Free Hikes...please leave your baby dogs at home for Baby Boomer hikes!
Trail could be muddy, snowy/icy or dry. Watch the weather and come prepared! Pack those spikes and snowshoes!
Carpooling: Form carpools from your neighborhood. Another good place to meet is at the free parking lot located at Hwy 93 and Golden Gate Canyon Road.
Directions to Trailhead: West Access: 25303 Belcher Hill Road, Golden. The Rawhide Loop Trail begins from the West Access Trailhead in White Ranch Park, 9.3 miles from Highway 93 in Golden, Colorado: Take Colorado Highway 93 north from Golden approximately 1 mile to Golden Gate Canyon Road. Turn west on Golden Gate Canyon Road. Travel west 3.7 miles to Crawford Gulch Road. Bear right onto Crawford Gulch Road and travel 3.9 miles to Belcher Hill Road. Turn right on Belcher Hill Road and travel 1.7 miles to the main West Access Trailhead.
What to bring...Colorado weather changes quickly so come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, snowshoes, backpack and snacks, and water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - snow gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!
