What we’re about

This group is for musicians of all levels who want to play the music of Bach— just for fun, to get away from it all in the middle of the day.

"About Bach Break" - WBUR, Boston's NPR station

Every few weeks, we meet in a beautiful, quiet spot where the music sounds great, and play for about an hour. Lately we've been playing at Old South Church in Copley Square, which is great because they have music stands, a piano, and the place looks and sounds beautiful.

Anyone can come and play. No audition and no long-term commitment is required. It's free to join and free to play.

The music we choose can be played by almost any group of instruments. We've played Arioso, Air on the G String, Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Little Fugue in G minor, chorales, and more. You can download your parts beforehand to practice or to print out and bring to the Bach Break.

Whenever we have to pay to rent a space to play in, we ask for a voluntary contribution to offset the rental cost. Usually, folks give about $10 each.

You can find more information at http://www.SymphonicLaboratory.com/bachbreak - where you can also download parts to print for the next upcoming Bach Break.

Who does this?
People come from down the block and from three towns away. Students, tech workers, baristas, retirees ... we all love Bach and the stress-free, beautiful experience of taking time to enjoy playing his music with friendly and supportive folks.
