Cats (VIRTUAL DISCUSSION GROUP)

Details
*THIS IS NOT A WATCH PARTY*
We've already covered some musicals here in the group, and it was only a matter of time before we got to the 2019 film adaptation of Cats, itself an interpretation of the poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
Cats is a star-studded production that takes full advantage of the cinematic form, especially with its use of CGI instead of makeup and costumes, and I believe we can learn a lot about what constitutes a quality musical film by watching this critically panned attempt at purr-fection (sorry, I felt I had to put a cat pun somewhere in this description).
Was this truly one of the worst films ever made according to critics? Or could this have actually been an underrated masterpiece that deserves more positive critical re-evaluation? Let's discuss!
