Mid Sussex countryside -Madgeland Wood and Southwater Circular - 11 miles
Details
I hope you can join me in quintessential english countryside taking in a number of Sussex woods with bluebells and wild garlic. Opening into views of the South Downs. Pub lunch at the Bax Castle (7 miles) or picnic. After lunch an easy stretch along the Downslink and through Southwater Country Park.
It's fair to say that the ground before lunch although flat is rutted and muddy in parts due to early morning horsy folk shenanigans so may be considered heavy going by some; but the dappled sunshine through woodland makes up for it! It is fairly flat so no big hills to climb. On the two times I have walked this walk I haven't met another person pre-lunch so it could be just us lot. Hopefully the warm weather will dry it out without ending the bluebells! Boots recommended (as are trousers but who am I to tell people how to dress!)
I have put some pictures here of my walk out today to give you a bit of an idea. Hope to see you there! :)

NB. Travel expenses are divided equally between the driver and the passengers, with the rate currently being 30p per mile for car sharing arrangements.
See our walks programme (http://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/find-a-walk-or-route/walk-detail.aspx?walkID=3956449) for more information.
We don't ask you to pay to join us on your first three walks. Afterwards, in order to continue walking with our group, you must become a paid-up member of the Ramblers. Click here (http://www.ramblers.org.uk/get-involved/become-a-member.aspx) to apply. The cost is very reasonable and there are also other benefits.
It is essential to RSVP if you are coming on this walk and have not yet joined the Ramblers (see above) and unRSVP if you are not coming.
Members of the Ramblers can attend any walk regardless of waitlists, but we would encourage you to RSVP. This is to give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending and also to keep the numbers manageable.
