Balisp Revival 6! Lightning talks on {{tbd}} @blackboxvc

Hello Lady & Gentlemen Hackers!

Listen carefully...

Can you hear that?

No not that. That's just the sound of some previously consequential digital bits fizzing & popping as they disintegrate into a frothy, boiling-hot stew of mundanity (uncommitted code in your work-related version control repository).

*That*'s the sound of your latest side project, research spike, or random revelation telling you that it wants present itself to the world in "educational lightning talk" format (background + 5 min + 5 min QA) at 2pm on Saturday, October 6 at Blackbox Mansion.

Do you abide?

If you do please join us at aforementioned Blackbox Mansion (19 Selby Ln, Atherton, CA) at 2pm on Saturday, October 6 for food, beer, lightning talks, and discussion of various topics including but not limited to programming language design & implementation. If you do not abide still feel warmly invited to come for food, beer, discussion, & to watch some cool lightning talks.

Lightning talk line-up to be announced.

In case you were curious they are redoing the carpet @500 at the moment, so we are back at blackbox for this month.

Despite the ampleness of parking, blackbox mansion is harder to get to for some because it's further from public transportation. So if people can volunteer to help give rides or carpool that would be really helpful. I'm planning on going early (~1pm) to set up, so if anyone else wants to go that early I can give them a ride from downtown Palo Alto (just send me a message).

if anyone is interested in porting LISP to a new parallel computer design, check this out. I'm getting some, so maybe that's me.

My small RV 'car' isn't exactly Selby Lane friendly. I'm relatively nearby at 101/marsh road (tech shop), could use a ride from there to the meetup.

The location is "19 Selby Ln, Atherton, CA". The map seems stuck at this random place in Berkeley, & I can't seem to correct it using the "edit map" button. Sorry for the confusion, I will try to fix it again with fresh eyes tomorrow...

The issue was not w/ Google Maps, rather w/ confusing the interface: it lets you enter in new a lat/long for the meeting, but the changes don't stick. Anyway, I fixed it by updating Blackbox Mansion's entry. Hrmmm I would argue that the Selby trail in Tilden park is actually a pretty random place for the nonexistent town of BerkeleyAtherton to be located :-)

Clearly it tries to match the town first, Berkeley was the best match, and then Selby matched exactly. Probably no #19 on the trail, though. :-)

If anyone's driving from San Francisco, or even better, from Oakland, and can offer a ride, I would greatly appreciate it.

The address is a bit confusing: "BerkeleyAtherton, CA"? The '(map)' link next to that doesn't clarify it.
