We are hosting this event together with another meetup group called Baltimore's Playground. As usual, you should bring a food or drink to share with the group and possibly a game too; especially if its a new or uncommon game you'd like to try. The group usually splits into smaller groups so a few different games are played simultaneously.
Initially, we were allowing the first 30 rsvps to valet here and requiring the rest of you to find your own parking. However, with nearly 70 rsvps together with this group and Baltimore's Playground, it makes more sense to simply allow everyone to park here. WE HAVE DECIDED TO HIRE AN ADDITIONAL VALET. Everyone who is planning to drive, PLEASE USE THE VALET AT THE RITZ CARLTON. The extra valet will be charged directly to your host, so please contribute a few dollars to a jar in the game room, to help your host cover this cost. A contribution is not required to attend.
The Ritz is on Key Highway across the street from the Visionary Arts Museum. If you are valeting, pull around and they will give you a colored valet ticket and park your car in a secure underground garage with no time limit. (Some of you have commented that you want to know more about the parking situation. I will post below for anyone who wants to read).
Enter the building through the main entrance and TURN LEFT at the corridor as you exit the lobby. Follow the long hallway all the way down. Follow the signs towards building 4. You will see the numbers on the doors going down. You will pass the pool, restrooms, resident lounge, and theater in that order. When you reach what looks like the end of the hallway, a blue wall with a picture of men on horses, turn left. It will be the second door on your right, labeled GAME AND BILLIARDS. Call me if you get lost or have any additional questions. [masked] Nichole
I own a condo in the building. As a courtesy, the building provides us the use of one valet attendant for our guests. For larger parties, we must hire an additional valet. For this event, I have hired one additional valet attendant. Do not ask the staff where you pay, etc. I host is charged this fee, not each person. If you wish to help the host cover this fee, please contribute to the jar that will be in the gameroom.
Most of you know how valet works, but I'll explain for those of you who are unsure. When you arrive, a valet attendant wearing black will greet you and give you a colored paper ticket. You will need this ticket to retrieve your car later. Leave your car running! As soon as you receive the ticket, you should head to the gameroom. Your car will be parked in a safe underground garage beneath the building and they will keep your keys. There is no time limit. When you are ready to leave, present the valet attendant with your colored ticket. They will get your car and help you get in. At this time, you may give an optional tip. Tips are not expected, but appreciated. If you choose to give one, $2-5 is standard.
