What we're about
Musical improv is any form of improv (usually comedy) involving music. This group will have occasional workshops where you do musical improv, we'll attend musical improv shows, and we'll form groups to put on our own shows.
Music is for everyone! Our meetup workshops focus on song structure, lyric creation, emotional content, choreography, and rhyming.
We'll warm up your voice and then play games and learn about what goes into some longer musical improv shows. Most of the time you will be singing with other people, and accompanied by a musician.
Making up songs in the moment forms the core of musical improv. In the events of this meetup, we'll work together as a team to create comedic, emotional and inspiring songs.
No skills or experience is required. You do not need any singing, theater training, or to be funny. While we're happy to share tips and practice to improv any of our related skills, as a group we don't require a quality singing voice or musicality.
