• Barcamp Gold Coast #14 !
It's that time of year again! Come along to the 14th Gold Coast barcamp. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend Barcamps. They are fun, social, as informal as we can make them, educational in many ways; and you get to be a participant in it, perhaps helping keep it a notch away from anarchy, and leading or participating in the discussion sessions that arise. The next Barcamp is at Gold Coast Techspace (http://gctechspace.org), right in the heart of Mudgeeraba Village. Please RSVP right here on this meetup group. The event is free to attend for everyone. • Open Source Developers' Conference 2014
With less than a month before the Open Source Developers' Conference 2014 begins, it's important to book your ticket now! Where&When? Griffith Uni Gold Coast Campus, 4-6 Nov 2014. If you can't make it to Auckland for LCA in January (and even if you can), this is fabulous extra opportunity! At around $300, full OSDC conference tickets cost less than most single IT training days, and provide so much more! Approx 50 awesome speakers, lots of like-minded similarly awesome people to exchange ideas with, tutorials to really learn something new in-depth with experts right there, great food including the ever fabulous conference dinner. There are tutorials/workshops on Inkscape, OpenStack, Docker, and Web Security, and session topics from setting up monitoring in your own home, bare bones ARM hacking, robotics, to 3D printing, and language-related talks on Python, PHP, Perl, Go, Haskell, Node/JS, Ruby/Rails, Arduino, some opensource-in-business topics, and so much more! What new magic will you learn during these days? There will even be a special BlueHackers plenary by a counsellor. Basically, you can't afford to not be there! For even more info, see http://2014.osdc.com.au/ To register, you can use the following link for the special ticket price: https://ti.to/osdc/2014goldcoast?release_id=zkbbeff1zjc If you're a student, use the regular registration page and pay only $180

  • BarCamp Gold Coast 10
Hosted by Gold Coast TechSpace (http://gctechspace.org) at their new location in the Robina Community Centre. We are very excited to run a BarCamp here. We think this will be our best location ever, and we will be spreading the word wider that ever before. This should make for even better talk sessions. We are back into warm spring weather already, so visitors from Down South can come and thaw out. Please RSVP early. We will have to put a limit on attendee numbers, and might not be able to increase it. This wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp) and this locally-written page (http://gctechspace.org/our-take-on-barcamps) describe more about what Barcamps are. Talk sessions will probably be set to 10 to 15 mins in the morning and 20 mins in the afternoon. Try to plan your talk to last half that time, so there is time for questions and discussion from your avid listeners. Please feel free to print a few of the original PDF file (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByI6_6uKRRtHQXpSTW56Z2tJa28) of this poster off (A4 or A3 prints should work fine) and distribute them around.

MakerCamp is a showcase of inventions, creations, arts, craftsmanship and anything that you can make yourself. MakerCamp will be in the unconference format just like a regular Barcamp, but centred around Maker-Culture. Come along and tell us about things you have made or are making. In addition to the unconference sessions, there will be interactive classes and demonstrations of 3D printers, electric go-carts, electronics, woodwork & many other projects forged by the Brisbane inventors community.
