Meet other computer music technology enthusiasts for presentations of computer music techniques and technologies (all music genre outputs are welcome). If you are a user of max/msp, csound, ChucK, CLM, Live, Reaktor, Kyma, JMSL, SuperCollider, or other computer music synthesis, composition, and live performance software this group is for you. Come to learn new techniques, better the code base, find collaborators, and find out what what's happening in studios, labs, and live work spaces around the Bay Area. Events include presentations (with a general gravity towards first Thursdays from 7:00-9:30pm), workshops, and hack sessions.

In partnership with the Institute for Sound and Music Berlin, Gray Area Festival is proud to present the ISM Hexadome, a 360° audiovisual experience. The ISM Hexadome will showcase the work of internationally renowned artists through spatialized sound and projected visuals in an enveloping, architectural space. World-class artists have been curated to create original works exclusively designed for the ISM Hexadome's unique 360° environment. Inferno: Robotic Exoskeleton Performance at Gray Area Festival

Gray Area Festival is proud to present robotic music performance Inferno, by artists Louis-Philippe Demers and Bill Vorn, for its US debut in San Francisco. An exhilarating show featuring you as a performer — in a robotic exoskeleton. Give in to a machine’s control as an Exoskeleton Performer, if you dare. Featuring 12 machine-powered exoskeletons, Inferno offers a uniquely interactive experience in that audience members, clad in mechanical suits, will be part of the performance. Participating audience members will be suited in wearable exoskeletons, designed to perform dynamic movements choreographed and activated by the artists throughout the performance. Shifting the command from artist to computer and role of audience to performer, Inferno questions the nature of control and agency in the landscape of technology and performance today. At the frontier of art, technology, and music, this interactive performance poses a remarkably unique experience questioning our world in its transformation. Suzanne Ciani World Premiere

In partnership with ISM Berlin, Gray Area Festival is proud to present the world premiere of Suzanne Ciani’s Under the Electric Sea at the ISM Hexadome. For one night only, experience an exclusive live concert by Suzanne Ciani and AudeRrose at Pier 70 The live performance will take place in the ISM Hexadome, a 360° audiovisual experience. Throughout the Gray Area Festival, the ISM Hexadome will showcase the work of internationally renowned artists through spatialized sound and projected visuals in an enveloping, architectural space. This audiovisual collaboration was commissioned and created in Berlin for the ISM Hexadome by Suzanne Ciani together with French visual artist AudeRrose.
