Join us for the 5th edition of the Gray Area Festival, San Francisco's premiere annual festival advancing culture and common good through the lens of art and technology. Gray Area Festival 2019 will redefine the conversation around experience design, starting with the US debut of two international, sensory enveloping art experiences: the immersive exhibition ISM Hexadome & interactive exoskeleton performance Inferno.

✧ Conference Programming
This year's festival includes a stellar lineup of speakers including:

Monica Bello, head arts curator at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research; Jax Deluca, Media Arts Director at National Endowment for the Arts, Sarah Brin, who runs strategic partnerships at Meow Wolf, the Santa Fe immersive arts collective; Timoni West, Director of XR at Unity Labs; Domhnaill Hernon, Director of the Experiments in Art and Technology program at Nokia Bell Labs; Sasha Samochina, Immersive Visualization Producer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Jaron Lanier, VR Pioneer and author of You Are Not a Gadget and Ten Arguments

✧ Inferno Performances
An exhilarating show featuring you as a performer — in a robotic exoskeleton. Give into a machine’s control as an Exoskeleton Performer, if you dare. Inferno by artists Louis-Philippe Demers and Bill Vorn will feature 12 machine-powered exoskeletons which will be installed on the bodies of participating audience members. ✧ ISM Hexadome at Pier 70
In partnership with the Institute for Sound and Music Berlin, Gray Area Festival is proud to present the ISM Hexadome, a 360° audiovisual experience in San Francisco. The ISM Hexadome will showcase the work of internationally renowned artists through spatialized sound and projected visuals in an enveloping, architectural space.

The ISM Hexadome will feature 9 immersive installations by exhibiting artists including:

✧ Suzanne Ciani Live at ISM Hexadome at Pier 70
On July 26, join us for the world premiere of Suzanne Ciani’s Under the Electric Sea at the ISM Hexadome. For one night only, experience this exclusive live concert performance by Suzanne Ciani together with French visual artist AudeRrose in a 360° audiovisual performance.

✧ Creative Coding Workshop Day
On Sunday July 28, the final day of the Gray Area Festival, join us for Creative Code Workshops taught by talented instructors, recognized for actively shaping their fields and practices. Workshops range from immersive design, experiential technology, spatial computing, and world building. Limited number of tickets available.
