This time we have four of our favorite Bay Area improvising musicians.
in two pairs. Steve Adams, of the Rova Saxophone Quartet and string
bass player Scott Walton have recently been revisiting some old Adams
compositions with newly added electronic accompaniments. I've heard parts
of this project, and it's stunning. Seamless integration of electronics
with acoustic instruments is a commonplace goal, but one not often
achieved as thoroughly and engagingly as in this duo.
Josh Allen (sax) and Gino Robair (perc) are very different performers.
Josh's focus is usually on energy and raw emotion, while Gino
focusses more on intimacy and tiny details. Of course, they can
both go either way. They've never played together before, so we
have no idea which way they'll swing, but we're sure we want to
