ABOUT DAVID KIRTLAND:
Writer, Producer, and Director
David C. Kirtland born and raised in Louisiana. He was first introduced to filmmaking at the early age of nine when he received his grandfather’s 8mm film camera. He went on to make many early films, cutting and splicing on his own until age 13. These early projects become increasingly more elaborate, moving up to 16mm and usually involving multiple locations and cast. It is also around this same age that he became increasingly more obsessed with filmmaking and he has been studying ever since. He has written and co-written more than 23 screenplays, two stage plays, directed two music videos, one documentary, and over 20 short films. His latest short film, To Kill, starring Blake Palmintier and Dan Daigle premieres in Dec. at the House of Blues in New Orleans. David has worked in film, television, and theater for the past 12 years. He went to Delgado Community College for television production and graduated from the Defense Information School in Ft. Meade, Maryland for journalism. David also works as a broadcast journalist for the Louisiana Army National Guard and has recently returned from three months in Haiti, where he captured video of the country’s rebuilding following the Jan 12, 2010 earthquake. His latest and most ambitious endeavor, New Guy Films, aims to encourage the hiring of local crew and talent in and around New Orleans, LA.
