Update:
So Grassroots Ecology cancelled the volunteering part because of weather conditions. We are sticking with our plan to hike the South Adobe Creek Loop trail, traversing Shoreline lake, Byxbee park dunes of Palo Alto Baylands park, and the marsh in-between. And group picnic in shoreline after.
The reasons for this hike is:
- Nature comes back alive during weather changes.
- The light after rain would be magical.
- The dunes of palo alto baylands would turn green after rain.
- The wildlife in the marshes, the ducks and pelicans.
The weather forecast for Sat. keeps changing by the hour, from few showers to cloudy. So come prepared, with poncho, umbrellas or water resistant clothes.
And in the hike, you can propose a topic that interests you, find teammates to form a squad to work on it, claim your city/festival/activity. We will provide some teasers, like outdoor and festival volunteering social, and some town cultural activities. We would rotate squads after each event, so you get chance to try with different people on different topics for a limited period, getting to know people better with deeper bondings.

As usual, our "Volunteer Social" involves working side by side, in small social squads, in beautiful settings with trusted organizations, followed by a group picnic lunch somewhere close by. So people have enough time to social while doing good.
Don't worry too much if the registration is full, we will find something for you to do. Come to make your friends in arms.
After group lunch, we will also experiment an optional "community builder" social squad. Previously our social squad would end after event, this time we give people opportunities to self-select into longer lasting squad, to work on some community ideas together till next event, so to have deeper bonds. Come try it out with us, and know people more & better.
