The May New Tech Recap

From: Robert R.
Sent on: Wednesday, May 29, 2013 12:59 PM

Hello New Tech Community.

Happy almost summer. Membership is now at 9,471, company listings 598 and new member registrations for May were 175.  We look forward to seeing you June 4 in Boulder, June 13 in Fort Collins and June 20 in Denver. Register for all events at http://bdnt.org.

We're thinking it might be fun to build a Google Glass app as part of the June 4th Boulder New Tech. The app would use the company listings dataset from http://bdnt.org, and the geo functionality from glasses/android to highlight where startups are located and who's hiring.  Doable, want to participate, own a pair of Google Glasses. if 10 or more people commit to the mini hackathon New Tech will supply the pizza and drinks, email [address removed] to confirm your participation.

The July and August Boulder events will be amazing, unique and feature over 20 different companies from around the globe. We're excited to present the complete programs from the Unreasonable Institute and Techstars. Both events are must attend, will sell out quickly and will take place over 2 nights each.

  • July 1 and 2 Unreasonable institute - Learn more about the Unreasoble Institute at http://unreasonableinstitute.org/
  • August 5 and 6 Techstars - Learn more about Techstars at http://www.techstars.com/

New Tech Website Update:

  • The New Tech job board http://bdnt.org/hiring is less than 25 days old and has 65 job openings from 6 counties accross the state.
  • We’re starting to look at moving the monthly registration from Meetup.com to Eventbrite.com. If you're interested in helping build, design, scope or have an opinion why we should or should not move the registration please join the conversation on our linkedin group.
  • Plus we are going to extend the events section in the header of http://bdnt.org to include other events from across the state. If you're interested in managing the master event database, email [address removed].

Mode Set (http://www.modeset.co...)

More than just developers, we want to understand your business model, your risks, blockers, opportunities, and market advantages. We’re here to build you a viable, releasable product you can take to customers, investors, and stakeholders. Whether that product is a web application, mobile application or social application, or purely architecture, infrastructure or optimization, we can help. We bring with us extensive knowledge and years of experience working with clients ranging from early-stage startups to large global brands.

Technical Integrity (http://technicalinteg...)

We've created a better way to help employers and highly skilled technologists connect. It involves critical elements that so many people forget: a focus on a two-way cultural matching for both our clients and candidates, as well as engaging with and giving back to the community. This is part of our DNA, and as a result we've changed the way technical placements are done. We are highly selective and only work with the most interesting and well-respected startups and mid-size employers in Boulder, Denver, and around the nation. These are companies who treat their employees with respect, have fun, and understand that valued employees = happy employees . We also take pride in representing only the best Engineers and Executives. We emphasize quality, honesty, and integrity in everything we do. In 2011 we gave back almost $[masked] to charities and non-profits in Boulder and beyond. Over the past few years we've helped our community to bring together like-minded folks at Meetups, Ignite Boulder and BoulderBeta. We are proud to be sponsoring Boulder Denver New Tech Meetup. Drop us a line if we can be of assistance to you, oh, and we love snarky comments- so snark away!
