First Shoot of the Year

Now that the 'Holidays' are over and it has warmed up a bit, IT'S TIME TO GO SHOOTING! biggrin

I acquired a few new firearms, and I'll be buying ammo for them this week - I want to try them out. One is a 7.5 French MAS that I found, by researching the serial number, was used by the Resistance in WWII! I can't wait.

I will be at the Chevron gas station where we usually meet, and then caravan to the site.

Make sure you bring water.

Coordination of rideshare can be done on our Message Board. IF YOU DON'T OWN A FIREARM - that's ok, there's always plenty to use! If you purchase ammunition in most standard sizes (.22, .223, 9 mm, .38, .357, .762x39, .308, or 12-guage shotgun rounds) you will be able to shoot them through MY firearms, if nothing else! Anyone bringing anything that accepts other sizes, please list them on the Message Board thread if you are willing to allow others to 'try out your baby'. NOTE: THERE IS A 'FIRING LINE' WHERE SHOOTERS LINE UP SIDE-BY-SIDE TO FIRE DOWNRANGE AT TARGETS. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO FIRE FROM EITHER BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF THIS LINE! This is a CARDINAL RULE that will NOT be broached! This actually happened at a previous shoot, and when it was brought up, that person either didn't understand or just took offense, and left in a huff - leaving someone they brought with them behind! We are like Family here, and there are no hard feelings - BUT - there is one issue that WILL come first when dealing with articles and objects that can and will KILL YOU and that is SAFETY! If you hear the words "CEASE FIRE" you MUST IMMEDIATELY STOP FIRING. These words may be used by ANYONE for ANY REASON any time they feel something is either not right, or there is a danger to someone. NO JOKING AROUND. We have fun, but we are dead serious when it comes to safety.

Hope to see you out there,

Ed

Regarding the RSVP question by Dan about targets, there's usually plenty of things to shoot at out there, but sometimes people bring their own targets. I am bringing two big bags of colored plastic Easter eggs I bought at a discount last year that are highly visible at a distance and should work well being small like that. I might even glue them to sticks so they can be set up prominently and quickly! THERE IS NO BOX.

Veronica - looking forward to meeting you and your Family! Please be sure to have hearing protection for the little ones - we have had children with us in the past, so we know to be extra careful at outings with them present.

    HA HA! Good idea.
I'll try to make it. With 4 kids, it's kind of hard for me to nail down my schedule. Or should I say, plans my wife makes for us that I don't know about yet... :-/

As Alan Korwin once told me "don't give out Tactical Information"; that question, my good Shawn, and any others that get too specific will be answered at the rendesvous point.

It's always all up to 'us' once 'we' get there, and I never know who 'we' is until I get there.

Fear not - rounds WILL be expended, right Dean? heh heh

Nice. I figured there would be a fee if it was at Ben Avery. I shoot there once per month. So, from I 17 and Carefree. You heading to Table Mesa Rd turn off behind lake pleasant? Or do you know another place that's still open to access?

It seems that they have been fencing off lots of desert in the valley. i.e. New River Rd. is almost entirely fenced off to the public now. :-(

Desert all the way - unless someone begs for a range (and an overbearing RangeMaster) we are Open Range shooters. If you need, we can bring a tape measure and mark off distances for you... : )

    Cool deal.
Is this event happening at Ben Avery shooting range or are we going out to the desert?
Just curious, I shoot in the desert AND at Ben Avery on a regular basis. :-)

IN THE PICTURE the post-it note on my pre-ban AR15SP1 says "This rifle - like Ron Paul - IS NOT FOR SALE!" heh heh
