Friday Night Games at "The Landing" at Crystal City Shops

Let's play games this Friday at the Crystal City Shops in the open area called "The Landing."  There are lots of tables and many eateries in the mall from which to choose.  After we finish playing games we can head over to King Street Blues for some beers.  We'll be starting at 6 pm, but feel free to wander in whenever you get off work.

Parking after 4 pm is free in the garage.  Enter the garage on 18th Street and go straight until you have to turn left.  The elevators to "The Landing" will be halfway down on the right.   This is a link to a map of the Crystal City Shops:  http://www.thecrystalcityshops.com/ The Landing is in the yellow section near the San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

I'll bring a collection of party and board games.  Please feel free to bring anything you might like to play. This is a fun group of non-competitive people who play everything from silly party to hard-core strategy games.  First time gamers are very welcome!  It's a great opportunity to learn all sorts of new games with really nice people.

Parking: just an FYI, pretty much all of the garages in crystal city with the blue circle 'P' sign are free after four. If the garage you enter on 18th street is full, try another. There are several others, including one by Morton's and others on crystal drive.

The garages will also empty out after 5 once everyone in the office buildings leave for the day

Except for the one on 18th by the metro entrance. That's usually full, even midweek.

I have a delima. Im planning on riding the motorcycle and can only fit 2 of the 3 following games in my backpack: 7 Wonders, Discworld: Ahnk-Morpork, or Lords of Waterdeep. Preferences?

Is Discworld good? I love the books, if the game is fun, then it has my vote :)

It's pretty fun and easy to pick up. Developing a strategy can take a couple of play throughs.

Whoa, the last time I looked this event was at Bailey's in Ballston. Now I see the entire series has moved to The Landing in Crystal City. Since it's convenient to Metro, I can still attend this time, but is there any chance we'll be heading back to Bailey's in the future?

I'm allergic to smoke, and even though the smoke didn't seem very noticeable, I ended up having trouble after we left. The manager at Bailey's says they are hoping to make the place smoke-free eventually, but he's not sure when that will happen. If you would like to host game nights there, I would be very happy to make you a co-organizer for the group. It's a wonderful space, but might not be available every Friday as they rent it out for large parties. If that's the case, they said they would try to make space available in the other part of the restaurant.

I smelled the smoke too, and although it didn't bother me, I'd also like to see Bailey's go completely smoke-free. As for hosting an event there with B&BG, no, I don't think I'm ready for that yet; I'm just getting started as host with another group. If my opinion changes on this question, I'll let you know. Thanks for the quick response!
