Friday Night Games at "The Landing" at Crystal City Shops

Let's play games this Friday at the Crystal City Shops in the open area called "The Landing." There are lots of tables for games, and the mall has many eateries where you can get food to go. The Landing is right next to the Crystal City metro stop and, if you're driving, there is free parking after 4:00 pm in the garage.  See below for more details.

We'll be starting at 6 pm, but feel free to wander in whenever you'd like. If everyone is already in the middle of games, please don't hesitate to pull up a chair and watch a game in progress.

We like to play a variety of new board games ranging from silly party games to complex Euro games. Here are some of the games we like to play.

• Tzolkin

• Castles of Burgundy

Puerto Rico

• Stone Age

• Splendor

• The Resistance

• Spyfall

Gamers of all experience levels are welcome. It's a friendly group that's always happy to meet new people and teach games.

Directions from the Metro

If you're taking the Metro, exit at Crystal City and you can walk to The Landing without having to go outside. When you come up the first set of escalators, turn right to enter the underground shops and then turn right at Rite Aid. Continue straight and The Landing will be the large open seating area on your right, next to San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

Parking

If you're driving, parking after 4 pm is free in the garage. Enter the garage for 1750 Crystal Drive on 18th Street and take a ticket.  (You'll need this to exit, but there's no charge). Take the elevators up to Level S. The Landing is the large open seating area next to San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

If that parking garage is full, exit the garage and turn left on 18th and left again on Crystal Drive. A second parking garage is located on Crystal Drive between 18th Street and 15th Street.

Hi! This is my first meet-up with this group. I am bringing a table top card game called "once upon a time". Looking forward to meeting everyone!

The last time we played that, the game ended in a fistfight, so everyone be sure to mind your manners and don't mention you-know-what.

I'm learning to play Euphoria and I'll bring it! I'll also bring Clank. Does anyone know how to play Scythe?

Yup. I also asked someone who has a copy if he could bring his, and he said he would try. So I'd be down to play.

Sweet! I will bring Clank, Euphoria, Love Letter and Scythe, just in case.

Is anyone coming from or through Vienna/Tysons Corner? Uber is charging $30+ to get down there, so we might not make it.

That's shocking! Might also be cause it's rush hour right now. Their multiplier changes as demand does

I'll be bringing Murano, Queen's Architect, San Juan, Bang! the Dice Game, and some other small games. I'd love to learn Tzolkin and Terra Mystica.

I got more newer games. Well, 2 brand new games and one new-ish game. Karmaka is a ~30 minute card game about reincarnation. Accumulate enough karma to transcend from beetle to enlightenment. Play a card for its action and reap the benefit, but then your opponent can choose to add the card into his future life's deck. Eneregy Empires is a spiritual successor to the Manhattan Project. A worker placement game about becoming a nation post WWII. However, to supplement your work force you can generate energy from oil or power plants, but power plants generate pollution. You place pollution on your player board over VP symbols, literally costing you VP. Plays in about an hour.

Finally, Trickerion. You know who doesn't get enough credit? Magicians. No, not wizards or sorcerors. Magicians, or illusionists. The clever tinkers who who using mirrors and misdirection made ghosts and robots real. This game is about them. It is also a heavy Euro.

I would love to play Energy Empires! That is so super fun. I like it more than The Manhattan Project.
