The Double D as locals call it, has been a downtown Bend institution since 1947, and it looks its age. Formica and linoleum are integral design elements. "Dark" is the general theme. "Locals hangout". The open kitchen blends into the bar area, which features strings of colored Christmas lights and beer-company signs that frame tiers of bottles. A concession to the times is that they now take Mastercard and Visa--it had been cash only for the last 65 years!
Ask any local about the prime rib special ~ it ain't gourmet, just a nice slab of meat. Add a few good local brews and throw in some good conversation and away we go. GOOD TIMES AHEAD!
