Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting, David.

By "smaller set," do you mean with less BBG members included?

It looks like it dropped off the collective wishlist prior to my purchase, but I did get Samurai recently and will bring it soon. I can also bring Haggis if anybody would like to try that out.

Also, that guy Paul ("Poe") has showed up on Thursdays a few times with Space Empires 4X, but we've always sucked him into another game. He's a nice guy and a decent player, so those interested in that game might want to offer to play it with him.

I got Clash of Cultures now. Was gonna hold out and try it first but I decided I have faith in the designer (Christian Marcussen) after Merchants & Marauders, plus realized I have no other games in the genre

Also, I marked a hell of a lot more "Want to Plays" now because I have this cool program I downloaded from BGG called "What to Play Deluxe" It has a game randomizer that I can use to randomize games to bring to game night (I often struggle with deciding what to bring since there's so much stuff I like to play) based on category filters (length, players, etc) and to get it to work the way I wanted I had to mark all my games that I'm willing to bring and play at game night as "Want to Play."

Just played it tonight at EndGame. I think it's pretty good, very civ-like with a bit of randomness in dice rolls and event cards. Kind of a Cyclades feel to it without Gods and Creatures, although your action cards are like personal creature actions. Early game is slow in deciding what direction you want to take depending on what kind of terrain tiles you turn up. The event cards we happen to draw were almost always horrible for the person who triggered it. Sanitation and Irrigation prevents that. I feel the game might get predictable in terms of the combos in tech trees like Puetto Rico, but the 1/2 pt value helps evens it out as well as the random objective cards that vary in difficulty. Like Cyclades, it is very devastating to have a settlement with added buildings get taken over because of a lot of lost benefits, and you can get eliminated, which triggers end of game after the round.

Cool, thanks for posting your thoughts Mak. How long did the game end up taking? It was all 4 new people right?

Confident enough to teach?

Interested (as seen in the want-to-play above). Only thing I know about it is you add pieces to your city as you upgrade it, thought that was cool.

Speaking of Chris >>> BSG...

Kweku >>> Modern Art, Brass

You cleaning up your act? wink

I'm sorry my accidentally tagging want-to-play on Tichu got it onto this list. sad
