What we're about

Hey BookClubbers,

We meet monthly at the Flying Duck to discuss our monthly book. The meetings are informal, friendly and food and drink are available at the bar.

We take a vote on our monthly book at the end of each meeting and then it is up to each member to read the book before the next meeting.

The meetings are held in the Duck Room at the Flying Duck hotel and there is plenty of opportunity to get food and drinks.

Be prepared to socialise and meet new people. Bring a friendly attitude and be ready for lots of positive discussion.

"Educated" January 2019 Bookclub

The Flying Duck Hotel

Hi book lovers, "Educated" by Tara Westover was voted as winner for January bookclub. Here is an introduction from Good reads: An unforgettable memoir in the tradition of The Glass Castle about a young girl who, kept out of school, leaves her survivalist family and goes on to earn a PhD from Cambridge University Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her "head-for-the-hills bag". In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Please bring a gold coin donation to help with the meetup running costs. • Important to know Food and drinks are available at the bar. Please let me know if you are running late or unable to make it. I am making note of "no shows" as other participants miss out on a spot and it's unfair.
