Intro

For the month of Jan and Feb, BetaNYC is double down its advocacy investment in open data and focusing on building tools for City Council Members, their staff, and Community Boards. For eight weeks, we are looking at four data realms and building apps on top of that data: Crime and Public Safety, Schools and Transportation, Land Use, and NYC 311 data. These nights will feed into a two day hackathon (22/23 Feb), Code Across NYC.

About this night

For this night, we will explore a collection of datasets, maps, and tools that surround Crime and Public Safety Data in NYC. We have started a collection of Tools and Data on our GitHub. Please add your hacks, maps, and insight to our wiki.

Also note, this night is designed for individuals who can develop projects. This might mean you are a designer, developer, project manager, user experience expert, etc... If you are attending, be prepared to work individually or in a small team. You don't have to have a project to attend, but by the end of the night we do want you to be working on a project.

Schedule
7:00 PM - Event starts promptly
7:00 - 7:30 PM - Introductions of datasets
