Event Details

At the end of May, several notable summits convened. In Oakland, Code for America convened its eighth summit to explore what works and imagine what’s possible using technology and design in government. In Ottawa, the sixth Open Government Partnership Global Summit delivered concrete action items addressing themes of gender and inclusion, civic space, and democratic governance in the digital age. In New York City, the Personal Democracy Forum held an intimate day-long event exploring ways in which we can make tech more ethical, civic, and inclusive. These events are focal points for international communities that intersect civic and public interest technology, service design, and open government.

Join us on June 25th at Sidewalk Labs for a #BetaTalks that supports thoughtful continued dialogue and local connections. This event is an opportunity for New Yorkers of all stripes to hear back from those who presented at and/or attended these recent events. Voices from NYC’s public interest and civic tech community will present their personal insights and reflections in a series of lightning talks, followed by conversation, networking and refreshments.

Program:

7:00PM Refreshments

7:25 - Welcoming Remarks + Introductions

7:35 - Lightning Talks (4-5 minutes each)

8:40 - Questions / Answers and Closing Remarks
