Frank,

This is great. This really does grow upon the apps and hacks we’ve been demoing and working on though our bike hack nights.

If you’ve been attending our bike hack nights, this is a great event to get practical community organization experience.

Hope to see you there!

If tonight's #talkingtransition event isn't enough excitement, please join OpenPlans and Transportation Alternatives tomorrow for a hands-on workshop with online tools for safer streets.

We'll be demoing some community mapping with Shareabouts, including Crash Stories, the Make Brooklyn Safer map, and the Street View mapper for 5th and 6th Avenues. Plus, some StreetMix.

Please join us, and pass word to people around you who could be empowered with these tools!

(I am personally really excited about this event -- giving communities the tools they need to collect data, solve real problems and be advocates for change is a powerful part of civic hacking and what BetaNYC should be doing. There are not enough technologists for us to be everywhere, and we will always be unfamiliar with pressing issues in most parts of the city. BUT we can work with communities to make our tools better and to make more people into ambassadors and advocates for these tools. Tomorrow's event is a small step in that direction.)
