Thanks for the examples, Nathan. Looks great. My goal with this data will be to roll it into a larger socioeconomic index, that includes things like youth unemployment, poverty, social vulnerability, transience, etc to look for places where the city should prioritize investment and attention. 

If you have any ideas for great data sets beyond the Census, do share :)

For reference you can look at the work we at PediaCities did with T. Levin's scrapped point level crime data. The GitHub that Noel mentioned has more data, but you can find a CSV for 2013 point level data on PediaCities here:
