Morning BetaNYC!

Our bikeshare hack nights are helping improve the bike sharing ecosystem!!!! I want to point out this message that I received from Philly’s Chief Data Officer, Mark Head.

I had to correct him on who should get the credit. This win is because of YOU!!! It is NYC’s civic hackers who are paving the way for better bike share systems across the world.

Thank you,
Noel

Hey Fuzz,

Just wanted to call attention to a fairly recent RFP by the City of Philadelphia for an operator for our nascent bike share program. As part of the RFP documents, we were able to add specific sections requiring the system operator to provide open data on system status and system performance.

You can see the open data section in this RFP addendum (starting on page 8, the section entitled "Change 7: Added section E-11").

The content of this section was heavily influenced by Noel Hildalgo's great work on bike share best practices here:

We lifted stuff directly from the "System data we would like to see" section of the wiki and worked with the Mayor's Office of Transportation and Utilities to insert them directly into the RFP. Really great work on this Noel and much appreciated!

Cheers,

Mark
