☆ NEW OPEN MIC ☆
Acoustic Open Mic @ Metro Diner Café
216 Harker Place
Annapolis MD 21401
(Annapolis Towne Center at Parole)
Phone:[masked]
Website: http://www.MetroDinerCafe.com

Co-Hosts: Randy Goguen, Dan Kagan

We have found a new venue for our open mic that was previously held at the now defunct Kahve Cafe. Our inaugural open mic will be 23 June.

Further OM's will be 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, 5 - 8 PM

Standard format is sign-up sheet (3 songs per performer unless the number of signups requires shortened sets). If there is time remaining after everyone has performed, we usually finish with a short jam. PA system, mics, music stands provided.

If there is a featured act/performer scheduled, he/she/they play a 30 - 45 minute set from about 6 – 6:30, 6:45 PM. Open mic continues after the feature act.

Metro Diner is an excellent venue serving locally produced food (I love their bison burger sliders and sweet potato fries). Family-oriented atmosphere and easily accessible. There is ample FREE parking in the garage located right next to the diner.

Metro Diner Cafe is right between Route 2 and Riva Road in the Parole Town Center (intersection of Route 2 and Forest Drive). Easy access to the garage with FREE parking right next to the diner.

The Metro has a family – friendly atmosphere, serving locally-sourced farm-fresh products, and now featuring home-grown musical talent! Come on out and play!

It was definitely worth the trip! Dan and Randy did a great job planning this venue, with an amazing featured group and a variety of music, as well as a welcoming host and great sound. The menu was really also worth the trip. I will be back when Randy is back on her feet.

Sue, thanks for making the trek down to Annapolis, and I apologize for not being able to put you up. I was extremely ill and ended up making two trips to the emergency room before the docs got the crud under control. I am feeling much better today.

Looks like a cool venue and a sweet time. Please tag, caption, and/or comment on photos and identify those in the photos. We are in new territory, new venues with new players. The steps above will help others learn more. Thanks to Randy and Dan for hosting! I'll have to make it down there sometime and join in myself...

Our featured performers this coming Sunday are Good Measure, with Frances Moyer on bass, Sue Straney on fiddle, and Stanley Haley on guitar. They play an upbeat, eclectic mix of oldies, country, bluegrass and swing, and they sing and harmonize real sweet, too. Frances, Sue and Stanley are good friends who have been playing and singing together since 1999.

Hey, Randy, I might need a place to crash after!

Hey Sue, you are certainly welcome to crash at my place, as long as you are not allergic to cats - I have four.

This is on the spot where Parole Plaza existed many years ago, but now looks like an island of downtown DC, transplanted into Anne Arundel County. Loved it! Very clean, arty decor, good waitstaff, very good menu. I had a salmon-topped salad and chai tea. Mid-pricey, but both were excellent. Healthy (and tasty) food, local farms, breakfast, lunch and dinner menus available 24 hours a day.

I remember thinking, "Hmmm, this would be a really cool songwriters venue. There's a free parking garage at the end of the block. There's isn't much happening at night nearby, because the nearby offices are closed. There are a reasonable number of shops, but I didn't see many people on the street. So you won't get much, "Wow look at that! Live Music!" action from passersby.

If management's expectations of traffic building can remain conservative while the powers that be try to build a scene there, it could turn into a win-win.

You, sir, are the Energizer Bunny of singer-songwriters and there's already a place in Heaven for you. :)

Thanks for the compliment, Ty. I feel more like an old John Cameron Swayze Timex watch than The Bunny lately....

Sounds like a place for us to hear some Ty Ford tunes?
