Jack Farina Swing Band 16 piece Band A swing band you don’t want to miss! Come join us at the Phoenix Park Bandshell in Delavan WI. Free Swing Lesson kicks in promptly at 6:00 p.m. and the band starts at 7:00 with 2 hours of Hits from the Big Band Era, Swing, Latin, a Tribute to Glenn Miller Orchestra and a Veterans Salute. Let's get together for a picnic before hand to get to know each other. They have food and beverage vendors on site. I've listed this in other groups and it looks like a great turnout.
A bunch of people are going for a walk on the 2nd and 4th Sundays in the morning (from 10:45a-11:45a) along Monona Bay. After the walk we meet up for a coffee/tea break. Come join the social time (even if you're not interested in the walk). You'll get my phone number when you RSVP - make a note of it. Inside table on cold/wet days, outside table on warm/dry days. Look for the group - call or text me if you cannot find us. I do not see messages on Meetup right away. This is cross promoted: Men, Women, Kids are welcome.
Life begins where your comfort zone ends! Challenge yourself and learn tango, the iconic dance of passion. If you can hear the music and walk, we will help you start dancing. And the next time you go on vacation or trip, you will find friends in any part of the world through tango. Work on your body, exercise, and have fun. No partner or prior dance experience is needed. Come along, bring friends and make new ones! Bring clean shoes with leather/suede soles or socks. Take one, ten or as many lessons as you want.
here's a series many have asked for - Swing, Foxtrot and Waltz. These will get you through 75% of the social functions this summer. (this is cross posted in 3 groups and outside lists) As many of you know, I teach a lot with various Big Bands before concerts and fundraisers. I just did lessons at 3 fundraisers in the past 2 months and find that A LOT of people want to do the Hangar dance in July but aren’t comfortable so… Even if you don’t know the dances, you CAN learn (or re-learn) the basics in an evening. Many are excited about the Hangar Dance Madison so I have a proposal. Three styles in 3 weeks: The schedule for each night is 6:30 - 8:00 lesson 8:00 - 8:30 practice June 27 - Swing Swing is actually a whole family of dances, all of which evolved from the original swing dance, the Lindy Hop of the 1920s. Since then, more than 40 different versions have been documented, most of them set to that great big-band sound. The most common swing dance in competitions is the East Coast swing, a style developed by Arthur Murray and others in the years after World War II. With its free-wheeling style and adaptability to new kinds of music, swing has never gone out of style – even disco-era dances like the hustle can be traced back to swing.
