I'll call Week 7 challenging as it contains long stretches of desert on the outskirts of town. Call it the start of you considering doing Brevets in Arizona (http://www.azbrevet.com) (Heart of Arizona 200k coming up!) like your ride leader.
We follow the Shootout route down to Sahuarita, where we coast down Helmet Peak (opposite of where some of you who rode the Tumacacori Century went), then get on Sahuarita road all the way out until we hit Wentworth/Colossal Cave, then up towards Pistol Hill before we return on Old Spanish Trail, opposite of the way we got out to Sahuaro East.
Don't be too fooled, this is a longish route with a fair bit of climbing and the wind more than likely won't be our friend. Be prepared food wise and water wise as this route has less frequent water stops.
Regroups will be at a Circle K in Sahuarita, a Quick Mart off Colossal Cave Rd and Saguaro Monument East (note, this turn-off is not on the map as RideWithGPS wouldn't let me route this).
Week 9 is the Silverbell Century, which I highly recommend signing up for. It's $15 for GABA members, I recommend going for broke and doing the 96 mile route, with all the food water at the aid stations, plus your Week 7 training, this should be easily doable. About Downtown El Tour Training Rides:
Welcome to the El Tour Training Ride Series from Downtown. These rides start from where El Tour starts at Armory Park, and pick off different portions of the course (as well as some of my favorite rides). The end to each ride has a breakfast/brunch option. The rides will increase from 24 miles Week 1 to close to 100 miles prior to El Tour (plus two GABA Century rides thrown in there). Pace will always be a C+ to a B (12-14 mph average) depending on elevation gain.
