Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally

http://www.hellscanyonrally.com This year's ride will be a 4-day 3-night event (by popular demand), leaving Thursday July 10th and returning Sunday July13th. So make your motel reservations early, as all the motels book up early and our "official" motel for this ride will be the Super 8 Motel in Baker City, OR. (Ph#[masked]). You will need to reserve your room for the nights of July 10th, July 11th and July 12th. It is recommended that you call the Super 8 for reservations, as the online system has historically been inactive for this rally period. There are camping options available at the Mountain View RV Park with tent sites. There is also in-town camping available at the High School, but you must make your reservations through the Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally website. DON'T FORGET TO ORDER YOUR RALLY PACKETS!!!!

The Rally: http://www.hellscanyonrally.com The Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally is a great ride. Down and back is half the fun and the local rides around Baker City are Great! You may choose to ride with the big group, small groups or strike out on your own. There's lots to see and ride maps will be included with your "online-purchased" rally packets. The rally packets also include a wrist band (needed for the "free" shuttle service" around Baker City), dog tags and recently a T-Shirt. The rally packets are a good value and support the rally. The shuttle bus runs to all the motels, restaurants and bars in Baker City from 5PM to 1AM both Friday and Saturday nights.

Packing for the trip: Your only going to be gone for four days! Standard dress is jeans and a t-shirt to have some fun in Baker City. Riding attire is "dressing in layers", as the temperatures can vary from the mid 30's in the passes to the mid 80's on the desert plateaus and available "rain gear" is always a good bet...

Other "Things": You might want to bring your own bottle, as the "party" does seem to spontaneously erupt in the "parking lot" or the "hallway" of the Super 8. The Baker City Police are very lenient about drinking, as long as you stay off your bikes and the "shuttle" is a nice touch and it's FREE, if you purchase the rally packet.

The Super 8 motel has a breakfast room, free breakfast (cereal, juice, muffins, waffles, coffee, fruit, etc.) and an indoor pool and hot tub (might want to bring a swim suit). Most of the rooms have a fridge, microwave and 4-cup coffee maker.

The south sound riders will have dinner reservations at the EL Erradero  Mexican Restaurant and those who wish to are welcome to join.

Speaking of South Sound Riders, I was contemplating joining their group for the ride down, but that may not happen, we may strike out on our own. So with that said, since many are RSVP'd under both groups, please take a moment to update your RSVP's to just one group or the other, to indicate whether you'll be riding with us or them, if we choose not to go together.  Will want to know exactly who we're waiting for when it's time to mount up.

With my current house move, I'm not sure if time is on my side. Yesterday was a Ball Buster!!! Still have lots more to move, with my back against the wall. If I an able to go, I'll be camping somewhere along the road. All I need is two trees for my hammock. Is there any special place the meetup group will meet??? Or is there a way to contact each other will down in or around Baker City?

Do you have the pimp room rented from Thursday night thru Saturday night? If you do I'd take it Thursday and Friday, then maybe get a roll away bed or air mattress to put in Rickrs room for Saturday.

Well "Everyone", the rally is almost here. I hope you ALL can make it and looking forward to seeing you. I want to remind everyone to make sure their motorcycle is in good working order for the trip (tires, battery, oil, etc.) and we will be "kick-stands up" at 8:30AM, as one person will not stop the group., I want to also point out that we ride in a "2-second stagger" formation and stragglers must ride in the back of the line up. We generally ride at speeds of 5-10 mph above the speed limit and stop every 100 miles (smallest tank dependant) for fuel/rest. Let's be SAFE and have some FUN...

Hoping to go! may have to wait till Wednesday to see if all is a go. I've been thinking of going to Walla Walla, and over to Pullman to take the ride south through the mountains. Been told it's a great ride.
Since I'm SO last minute, can the HCR pass be purchased in Baker City???

You could in years past. They have the check in tent with all kinds of goodies. Lol. Was looking at the route you mentioned. Going to get with Julie about that possibility. To everyone else. Please keep us informed if your going or not. Don't want to leave anyone behind.

Less than a month away, whoo hoo! Unless someone really wants to take the reigns and lead this ride down, the current plan is to join along with the South Sound Riders group. They are meeting at McDonalds in Spanaway (I'll need to look up where spanaway is) at 8:30am and heading out from there so we would need to meet in the north end earlier than that with enough time to get down there to them.

Sign up for rally gets you free shuttle pass, two free meals, a rally shirt, maps for all the course's and a HCR 2014 pin, not a bad deal really! For the 50 dollars. If you look at maps before you head to rally you could probably earn one ride pin on the way there.. Be safe!

    February 23, 2014

As of February 23rd there are rooms still available at the Rodeway inn and I hear at the Geiser Grand hotel. BUT, you MUST call the hotel directly to get a room, on line will show it as unavailable! Prices are double the normal rate, but they are what they are......

Reservations at North Powder motel. A little ways away from town but that's what happens when your late.

    February 1, 2014

  • Julie D.

The link is activated, you can now sign up for a rally package at http://www.hellscanyonrally.com...
The price has gone up a little. $55.60 or with camping at the HS it's $86.60
It's not mandatory to sign up, but there are some nice things included and plus it supports the rally itself.
