Total miles: 10 (I can advise you on how to extend the mileage)
Total elevation gain: 900 feet
Approximate time, including stops: 1.5-2 hrs.
Fitness Level: Moderately Strenuous on the 20+/- minute climb up Spruce. Not for beginners. We will reassemble at the top of Spruce and take a 10-15 min. break but there will be NO sweeper. Otherwise easy, flat, and downhill.
This ride will start at Rockridge BART and follow the flat Bicycle Blvd. north through the tree-lined streets and stately homes of Benvenue and Hillegass Streets of Berkeley.
We will then continue to head north as we make our single long but gradual ascent up Spruce St. to Grizzly Peak Blvd. for fantastic views.
Then we'll coast down Euclid back to College Ave. where we will enjoy a well-deserved cone of famous Ici ice cream, which opens at 11:00am!

We will steer clear of traffic as much as possible, except for very short segments on College Ave.
This ride will pass by 2 architectural gems: Friends of First Church by Bernard Maybeck which is considered his greatest achievement, and the Thornson House, now home of Sigma Phi fraternity, a stellar example of Arts and Crafts architecture.
