SF~Presidio~Sausalito~Marina Loop + Venice Deli

A twist on a classic ride from the city to Sausalito.

We'll meet at Harry Bridges Plaza (in the middle of the Embarcadero, at the end of Market Street, in front of the Clock at the Ferry Building)

Meet: 9:30 AM

BART stop: Embarcadero

Map: http://goo.gl/maps/PnZ4f

Distance: ~24 miles

Elevation gain: ~1155 feet

Time: approximately 3 hrs.

Route:

Passing by the Painted Ladies of Alamo Square,

We'll wend our way through the most bike friendly SF streets up to Inspiration Point at the top of Arguello (not to be confused with Berkeley's version) for an expansive bird's eye view of the bay, if we have a clear day.

Then we'll descend through the Presidio to cross over the Golden Gate Bridge (aware of possibly windy conditions.)

We continue the ride with a nice descent into the pretty waterfront town of Sausalito for a lunch stop at Venice Deli which is a potpourri of everything edible.  We can relax a while on the waterfront before climbing up out of town and making our way back to the start along the Marina and Embarcadero.

Bring water, lytes, snacks, tube, HELMET and lunch money!  Route subject to change depending on weather/wind conditions.  Rain cancels.

Laura and I had a great time meeting everyone! Thanks for helping with my tire. It's inspired me to practice changing tires on my old bike this week. :-)

Thanks for letting join you guys today. LOL! I am coached by a Brit who wears a custom tee that says "I don't do hills!"

What an awesome ride with such a great cohesive, patient group. I felt like we survived the blustery winds of the high seas! Only one flat and 3 minor falls--not too many casualties. Hope to see you on future rides--my next one is 40 hilly miles June 15, if you're free: http://www.meetup.com/berkeleycyclists/events/121500522/

Posted here and on two other groups. Have a great week~

Hi Cyclists- NOTE that the weather has quickly turned from warm and calm to cool and windy. There will most likely be high winds on the Golden Gate Bridge and temperatures will be in the 50's-60's tomorrow, depending on the microclimates. Views may be affected by Mother Nature! If it is too windy, we must be ready to walk our bikes or I will modify the planned route. Dress in layers and see you tomorrow! Here is a link of the way we'll be going through SF out: http://goo.gl/maps/26yg4

The return will be along Crissy Field and the Embarcadero

What's the pace like, I'm guessing fairly easy? I'm thinking of using a mtb, but don't want to be a slowpoke.

      Any bike will do, Mike.

Hi all~ride any type of bike you wish. I'd like the pace to be 12-14 MPH but obviously city streets will slow us down. See you Sunday along with members from Bay Area Anything Active and Blazing the Urban Trail SF!
