Fantastic! You can see me in that video jumping over an OPD cruiser and doing a loop-de-loop in the old abandoned skate park.

Sorry I missed the ride. It looks like you all had a great time. Next time you have a ride like this I will try and make it.

It was great to see everyone on this beautiful day! I loved watching the colorful serpentine chain we made crossing the bridges. Thanks to Gus, Matt and the others who helped with the "wrong" turn which was actually not a bad choice given the headwind. Thanks for your support and see you on the road next time~

Sorry, Julie. I'm not sure how that happened. There were 43 of us. Large groups both at BART and Peets. Next time, I hope!

Oopsie! I went off road in Oyster Bay Park, got lost, got to the corner of park and central but I guess everybody was one. Anyway, it was an awesome ride. Thanks Franny

Well, if there is anyone who can find his way out of the wilderness, it's you!

Hey Franny: I've been excited all week to roll with my first bike meet up, and thought I'd be clear of this flu thing. Unfortunately, I'm feeling pretty rough still and may need to sleep in. Am bummed. Apologies for late notice. Hope to jump in soon.

    January 25, 2014

    • Franny

      Well, feel better soon!

      January 26, 2014

  • Amy

To everyone wondering if this will be too fast for them or appropriate if they are beginners: I'm also a beginner and have found that I'm able to keep up for the most part. I'm happy to stay in a group with you, so you don't have to worry about getting left behind! : )

    2 · January 14, 2014

    • Amy

Sorry for the late response, didn't see this one. I'm starting at 12th St. Bart. See you soon!

      January 23, 2014

    • Lena

Amy, I've decided to start at the Alameda location instead (worried that 30 miles may be too much), so I'll see you at Alameda Peets!

Hi Franny - not sure if I'll make it - am feeling a little unde rthe weather (if that's possible in this weather;-)- If I can make it, will meet at Park Street.

    January 25, 2014

Where do we meet at the Bart Station in Oakland? At the ticket booth. Will people be wearing identifiable clothing.

    January 25, 2014

Outside, upstairs. You'll see a bunch of us gathered on a corner near the exit. I have a black bike pink handlebars.

    January 25, 2014

    • Franny

Nope. We'll be swinging by around 10:15 I'd say.

  • Gazelle

Hi all. I'm also a beginner so I'll be with the <12 mph group...this is a great ride for beginners, I live in Alameda and have been going on this to get better at going faster. I'll be starting at Peet's at 10:15am as well. See you all Sunday!

    1 · January 21, 2014

    • Lauri M.

      I'm in the same boat!

      January 21, 2014

    • Gazelle

Ahh! Not going to be able to make it after all...took my name off to make room for others. Have fun everyone, hope to join you guys next time!

      January 22, 2014

We will only have time for 2 restroom/water stops, so use BART bathrooms, then Peets or Starbucks when we pick up the Peet's people and one more. We should arrive around 10:15 at Peets. Lunch back at the Peet's corner. The rest of us will ride back to Oakland, loop Lake Merritt (optional 3 miles) and back to BART. Looking forward to meeting everyone and everyone meeting each other!

  • Franny

Hello Cyclists, This will be my final email before the ride. I scouted out the route yesterday and please note the following: Part of one bike path we will take has a short BOARDWALK and IRREGULAR PAVING AND IS BUMPY for about 2 miles. Most parts of the paths are smooth and new. We will pass Peets and the Oakland Raiders Headquarters because you know those raider fans need their high quality coffee! I have modified the route to be out and back on the Oyster Bay portion because looping means riding along a very unpleasant piece of Doolittle Dr. Watch for railroad tracks and go slowly around sandy corners near the bridge entrances! If you're a beginner, cross perpendicularly to the tracks.

Perhaps there is parking at Laney College? I'm coming from the north bay.
I know the other Oakland BART is closer to Laney

    1 · January 21, 2014

    • Franny

Bill, parking should be easy in downtown Oakland and it's free. Park anywhere and ride your bike over to BART.

      January 21, 2014

    • Franny

      Free on Sundays.

      January 21, 2014

    Hello Franny,

I hope I can make the list.

Probably meet you at Peets in Alameda, as I'm driving from the north bay, and parking downtown Oakland might be a challenge.

    1 · January 19, 2014

  • Amy

Yes, Franny, I can lead a slower group. : ) Don't feel I'm experienced enough in these rides to be a sweeper though...

    2 · January 15, 2014

  • Vanessa

Hi there! Would this be a good ride for beginners?

    January 14, 2014

    • Franny

It depends on your definition of beginner, Vanessa. Looks like Amy is kind of to ride more slowly if need be. I urge you to print out the route map so you don't get lost. Thanks!

    • Vanessa

      Franny - thank you!

I think my normal pace is less tham 10 mph, this might be too fast.

    January 12, 2014

    • Carla

Julie, I keep a casual pace, maybe 12MPH, and will want to take in the view.

Greetings cyclists from Spain! I look forward to getting back in shape with you all with this pleasant ride after all the delicious bocadillos, chorizo and Cana I've been consuming!
