Dublin/Pleasanton BART-->Patterson Pass-->Altamont Pass; 63 miles 3,500 feet

This was a popular ride last year, so let's do it again.

This intermediate level road ride consists of 4-5 miles to get from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station to a ~50 mile loop and then another 4-5 miles to get us back to the BART station. There will be hills so, as Drew used to put it, this is a road bike and spandex ride  (well, I only ride in wool, but it looks the same). We will ride at at a moderate pace (an average of 10-12 mph) and won't leave anyone behind but you should make an honest assessment of your abilities when deciding if you're going to join us for this ride. Please bring water (2 bottles), a helmet, a spare tube and food (lunch and snacks). There will be opportunities to purchase coffee, food and water on the way to/from the BART station but not on the loop portion of our route.

We will meet at the BART station at 9:15 AM. There is a train arriving at 9:11 AM (leaves Downtown Berkeley at 8:08) that you should plan to be on. If you miss the 9:11 train or are otherwise delayed, we will wait until the 9:31 AM train arrives before we start the ride.

Visit this link http://ridewithgps.com/trips/20683 to see the route, including hill profile. It looks like last year ride took just under seven hours, so we'll likely finish around 4:00/4:30.

Rain cancels; on the day before, I'll email everyone who has RSVP'd with a weather report.

My cell number is five one oh, four nine five, seven zero three five.

    Hey Lee, great job organizing this wonderful ride! Good thing I was not the one giving directions. I'll hopefully be able post pictures tomorrow.

    Lee/Kent, always great to ride with you guys.
    Lee, thanks for organizing this ride.
    We should do it again before it gets too hot.

    Great weather: cold at start, but warmed up without getting hot. I've never been on the pass roads before, and they are beautiful and almost car-free (at least on the weekends).

    Yeah, looks like it will be cool...luckily, climbing a few hills will help us warm up.

    There was snow up around Altamont today - could be a COLD ONE! Bringing all my layers. Let's hope it doesn't get rained out.

    What a doozy! This sounds great. I will try. It can be my replacement ride for the Sea Otter, which I unfort. will have to miss this year.
