  • BART exit at 12th and Broadway. Check in with me. I have an orange bike and will e-mail cyclists my cell #
  • Description:  This beautiful ride through the woods starts by wrapping around Lake Merritt and climbing the woodsy residential neighborhood of Glenview up to Skyline.  We make a long 12 mile descent with rollers towards the end into Castro Valley for a rest stop at mile 21.  Then we climb up and descend down beautiful rural Palomares Rd. onto Niles Canyon for a short distance and end up on the Alameda Creek Trail with a finish at Fremont BART.

Meet:  9:15 AM.  Depart: 9:30 AM.  Free parking anywhere on Sundays in Oakland.Physician interested in biotech, health-related startups and opportunities for consulting in these fields.

Annual Membership Fee:  10.00 to help support my Meetup Dues and planning.  Thank you .

Bring:  Helmet, tube, snacks, fluids, sunscreen.

Pace:  12-18 MPH on the flats.  10 min. wait at the top of hills to regroup.  Sadly, no sweeper unless we have a volunteer who knows the route.  Social Pace not a Race!  We strive to be a cohesive group.

Disclaimer:  There is a 2 mile portion of Niles Canyon Rd. without a shoulder.  If you are uncomfortable riding in a group with some traffic please reconsider joining this ride for the safety of yourself and others!

Odd comment in the Meet section: "hysician interested in biotech, health-related startups and opportunities for consulting in these fields." I'm suspecting this is some sort of a cut-and-paste error?

Franny, even with a sign-in to MapMyRide.com, the route is marked private and not viewable. :(

It's fixed. I exported it into GPX so it works across all platforms.

I have a mt bike. I can keep up the pace of 12mph ave. Do others in the group use mt bikes for these rides or is everyone on a road bike?

Hi Chris, this is an all road ride. Having said that, several stronger members often ride MTB or hybrids. There's always the option of bailing at Castro Valley BART. Hope you'll join to try it out!
