Weather update: Saturday's forecast is with temperatures ranging from 43 to 49 degrees with about 5 MPH winds from the Northeast (tailwinds) and partly sunny. Bring appropriate warm riding gear!
The ride will meet at Lake Merritt BART at 9:45 leaving at 10am. Optional, meet at 9 am for chinatown breakfast at BART 9 am sharp.
The ride can be anywhere from 25-40 miles depending on how much of the Baytrail we decide to explore. The ride is flat and the bay trail is packed dirt / gravel. Best tire width is about 32C but just about any bike / tire is capable. The Bay Trail is fully exposed to the beauty and weather of the Bay so it can be windy.
The destination is the Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont.
We should be there around 2 PM. Ardenwood has had a high density of migrating butterflies this year so we can check this out as well as other things, see http://www.ebparks.or... http://www.adventured... After Ardenwood we can find late lunch/dinner at Sweet Tomatoes next to the Fremont BART station.
Here is the route.
People can turn back on the baytrail for a short ride. Faster riders may want to head west out into the bay on Coyote Creek trail to make the ride longer and rendezvous at Ardenwood between 2:00 to 2:30.
PLEASE PRINT OUT THE MAP BEFORE YOU LEAVE
http://goo.gl/maps/pS3n4 looks to be 80% bike path, 36 miles,
