What we're about

Are you a birder, birdwatcher, or curious about birdwatching? Come birdwatch with Northern Arizona Audubon Society in the Flagstaff, Sedona and Verde Valley area. Northern and Central Arizona contain all the major types of biomes and offers some of the best inland birding in the United States. We are sponsored by NAAS, but membership is not required to participate. We are an inclusive group, so people of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and perspectives are highly encouraged to participate.

Needs a location

Oak Creek Valley, Big Sit, Tuesday, January 31 from 9-10 am. Meet at corner of Oak Creek Valley & Willow Point to carpool into the area. From 89a between Sedona & Cottonwood take Oak Creek Valley Rd about .9 miles and park in dirt lot on left. Bring binoculars and warm clothes and maybe bring a thermos of hot tea. A restroom is available. We will look for winter residents and surprise visitors. Noreen Ireland will host and Kristen Rothrock will be leader,[masked]

Sedona Library - Sedona Youth Services Program - Saturday, February 11th from 11:30 to 12:30. Children ages 6 - 12.

Join Nanette Armstrong from Northern Arizona Audubon Society to learn about our local birds. Nanette will take kids on a short bird walk and help kids make bird feeders to take home. Binoculars will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own.

Sedona Wetlands "Fun Day" - NAAS event at Sedona Wetlands Preserve

Sedona Wetlands Preserve

A "Fun Day" for all at the Sedona Wetlands Preserve on Saturday, February 25th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. NAAS partners with the City of Sedona to offer this bird Sanctuary which is a necessary stop for migrant birds and breeding ground for resident birds. Come hang out with us and learn more about this wonderful, nourishing habitat that is an outstanding Sanctuary for birds and critters of all kinds.

We will have a bio blitz, a Children's book Author, information booths, a telescope set up at the back pond viewing deck to view waterfowl, field trips around the ponds to find birds and more.

The City of Sedona will have a booth with information about the workings of this fascinating waste water treatment plant.

Join us to learn more about the many creatures whose lives depend upon this habitat!
