What we're about

Do you like yoga? Then you'll love mindfulness, it's like yoga for the mind!

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is about relaxing and finding calm in our minds which is something especially important in our modern lives.

Mindfulness is not about trying to switch off our brains or controlling our thoughts. It's about changing the way that we relate to our thoughts so that they no longer cause us stress and anxiety. The principle of mindfulness is very straightforward and easy to learn, but it's a practice which takes time to master.

Can I Come Even If I Have Never Tried it Before?

This group is for anyone who is interested in learning more about mindfulness and meeting other likeminded people in a relaxed and friendly environment. It's open to complete beginners who have never tried mindfulness before, experienced meditation practitioners and everyone in between.

What Happens at the Sessions?

Each session lasts for 1 hour and will comprise of 3 or 4 mindfulness exercises. The exercises are completely guided by one of the instructors and lasts between 10-15 minutes. We then have a little bit of discussion in between the exercises to talk about various topics to do with health and wellbeing.

The exercises typically get us to focus on our breathing or one of the senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste) to help keep us in the present moment. Other exercises include gratitude, loving-kindness and progressive muscle relaxation.

How Much Does it Cost?

Your first session is free and after that it's only £3.50. You can come to as many or as little sessions as you'd like, there is no commitment whatsoever.

You can pay by Paypal on the Meetup event or cash on the door. If you are paying cash, please let us know that you're coming in advance and bring along the correct change with you.

You can also buy 5 sessions in advance for £15 (valid for 3 months) or become a monthly member for £10 a month. Get in touch for more details about this.

Who Leads the Sessions?

The sessions are led by Simon Tomlinson, Donna Joseph and Dora Szabados who all have a wealth of personal mindfulness experience to share with the group.
