• Meetup #12 @ T2-Campus Genk

    T2-campus

We are delighted to invite you to our first 2019 meetup on February 5th! We are all welcome in the buildings of T2 Campus in Genk for what will already be our 12th Blockchain Vlaanderen meetup. This meetup will be focused on "Key challenges & difficulties when starting blockchain PoC and moving into Production Environment" Despite the fact that Blockchain is regarded by many as the future, it appears that it is difficult to get started with blockchain today. The reasons for this include the fact that the contemporary lack of regulation creates a risky environment. Alongside legislation, there are more primary challenges such as privacy, uncertainty and cost. And no, the world won’t run on the blockchain anytime soon. The fact that the technology is still too complex for many, makes it also still too difficult to appreciate the benefits of it. This time, we offer you four presentations that will try to help you to figure out how you can solve difficulties when starting blockchain PoC. The lectures will also discuss some important challenges that will be addressed when setting up a blockchain project, such as Business Architecture; Users Management; Governance; Data privacy, Regulatory & Compliance requirements, … ▼ ▼ Agenda ▼ ▼ ► 18:30 - 19:00 | Welcome ► 19:00 - 19:30 | "Why Blockchain needs Product Managers" - Gianni Brisson - www.investereum.com As is the case with many (new) technologies that are used to develop applications, the first key to a successful product launch often lies in the preparation. Many new tech products often look promising, especially through the eyes of the creators, but often sales expectations aren’t met after the launch of the product. In the past couple of years, Blockchain projects had their fair share of failed product launches. Many products didn’t even make it through the development stage, despite having raised millions of euros by means of an ICO. ► 19:30 - 20:00 | "I want to ride my bicycle, tokens are coming my way" Koen Vingerhoets - Belfius It probably requires bankers to link kids on bicycles with GDPR & eMoney, but… yes, we can! The city Bonheiden came up with the idea to incentivize kids to use the bike to go to school, Belfius’ The Studio & IntellectEU brought it to life on a blockchain, in collaboration with FlowPilots. It wasn’t an entirely smooth ride and that had nothing to do with the state of the Belgian infrastructure. Join the Blockchain Vlaanderen meetup to learn about the challenges we met on our path to "eternal glory" production. ► 20:00 - 20:30 | Break ► 20:30 - 21:00 | "How “defined.id” project tackles GDPR issues on NEM Catapult blockchain and Geens" - Jef Vanbockryck - https://geens.com In practice, blockchain technology has turned out to be a mixed blessing for personal identity data. On one hand, it enables self-sovereign identity, on the other hand it brings potential privacy risks. The “defined.id” project shows how the NEM blockchain - in collaboration with Geens.com - finds a balance by using public and private chains, off-chain cryptography, W3C standards (DID, Verifiable Claim) and document encryption. ► 21:00 21:30 | "Key challenges & Difficulties implementing KYC-AML procedures into a blockchain development" - Sacha Vandamme - www.bit4you.io During this presentation, Sacha will introduce you some of their 30 rules implemented to prevent fraud and ID theft and the challenges around AML. ► 21:30 – 22:30 | Catering offered by Accenture - www.accenture.com Hope to see you there! Space is limited so please only RSVP if you will attend
