These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sending unrestricted DMs<\/strong>\u2014contact any other member on Meetup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Getting a priority position on the waitlist<\/strong>\u2014get first access when new spots open up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewing complete event attendee and group member lists<\/strong>\u2014see who\u2019s part of the community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Viewing member\u2019s profiles<\/strong>\u2014get to know other members better with additional insights about their interests and groups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From today, these changes are live on Meetup.com, and will roll-out to the Meetup iOS and Android apps within the next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Meetup+?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetup+ is our premium plan for members, available as a weekly, monthly, or annual subscription. A Meetup+ subscription unlocks a more powerful Meetup experience with the following benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>\ud83c\udd95 Unrestricted direct messaging with other members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83c\udd95 Priority position on event waitlists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83c\udd95 Full access to event attendee lists and group member lists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\ud83c\udd95 Full access to member profiles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full access to the &#8220;Who will be there&#8221; feature for upcoming events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;First to know&#8221; event announcements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exemption from service fees when RSVPing to paid events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ad-free experience of Meetup across all platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A distinct Member+ badge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Custom phone home screen app icons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, <strong>everyone can enjoy the core of what Meetup has to offer, even without a paid subscription.<\/strong> Anyone interesting in exploring Meetup can:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Discover new groups and events based on their interests and location<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Join and RSVP for an unlimited number of groups and events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect with other members through public communication channels, like Group Discussion and Event Comments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect with organizers and event hosts via direct messages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accessing the Meetup+ features and benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Meetup members can subscribe to access the Meetup+ features and benefits by navigating to their Account Settings, selecting <em>Meetup+ subscription<\/em>, and following the subsequent prompts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starter organizers automatically have full access to their group member lists and the attendee lists for the events they host. To access the plan\u2019s other offerings, they\u2019ll need to start a separate Meetup+ member subscription following the same process as outlined in the point above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members who already subscribe to Meetup+\u2014as well as Standard and Pro organizers\u2014automatically have full access to all the exclusive Meetup+ advantages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Below, we dive into the specifics of which Meetup benefits are still accessible to everyone, and which are now reserved for Meetup+ members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Direct messages<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All members can use the Messages feature to communicate with the leadership team members of the groups they\u2019re in, meaning organizers, co-organizers, assistant organizers, and event hosts. Everyone also has unrestricted access to Meetup\u2019s other communication tools: Group Discussions and Event Comments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only Meetup+ members can send direct messages to other Meetup members<\/strong>.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Members who are not subscribed to Meetup+ can chat with others via Messages if the conversation is started by an organizer or another member with a Meetup+ subscription.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Members who are not subscribed to Meetup+ can continue sending direct messages in chats started before October 11.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On Meetup, personal privacy settings take precedence. If you\u2019ve blocked someone, they won\u2019t be able to send you direct messages even if they have Meetup+.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waitlists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All members<strong> <\/strong>can join the waitlist for events they\u2019re interested in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meetup+ members get priority on the waitlist<\/strong>, meaning they have first access to any new spots that open up. If additional free spots remain, others on the waitlist will be added to the event on a first-come-first-serve basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Group member and event attendee lists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All members can see the full details of members with leadership roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All members can see \u201cFamiliar Faces\u201d on an attendance list, in case they\u2019ve attended an event with the same member(s) before. This feature allows everyone to immediately discern the people they\u2019ve previously encountered through other Meetup experiences, before RSVPing to an event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meetup+<\/strong> <strong>members can see personal details of others in the group member and event attendee lists.<\/strong> Depending on each individual\u2019s privacy settings, this may include full names (based on each member\u2019s display name) and profile pictures. For other members, these details remain hidden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Member profile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All members can navigate to another member\u2019s profile to see their profile picture, first name, and selection of their interests and the groups they\u2019re part of.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meetup+ members<\/strong> <strong>can see the complete details that other members have chosen to share on their profile pages<\/strong>, which may include their full name, the entire list of interests, a comprehensive overview of group membership, social media links, and additional personal information in the \u201cAbout me\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m looking to\u201d sections. Of course, an individual\u2019s privacy settings still determine what others can see on their profiles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why did we introduce these changes?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We believe that the plans we offer to our members should reflect the different ways individuals use the Meetup platform.
