Open Source Hack Night

Come prepared with an idea or two of some open source ruby that you'd like to hack on, be it a brand new gem, a new feature in an old gem, or just some bug fixing. Come prepared to help someone else out with their idea.

We'll break into pairs, or larger groups, or whatever seems natural - and we'll see how much we can accomplish in two to three hours. There is no minimum skill level - hacking with other people is a great way to learn, so if you don't have any open source ambitions of your own, or you are still new to ruby, that's okay! Come to help others, and come to learn. Feel free to bounce around ideas in "Talk about this Meetup" below!

Dinner is provided (usually pizza, sometimes other stuff), feel free to bring beverages of your own.

I enjoyed the event. It's a good environment to talk about what your coding, and ask questions. The fire alarm going off didn't ruin the night. :)

Big thanks to Friends of the Web for bringing the delicious pizza last night! Andy, Anthony, Dan and Josh are doing great things in Baltimore.

Note to attendees - there is a happy-hour-style event happening in the ETC tonight, so don't be afraid, just push your way through the drunken business-people and get to the Beehive for the hacking! Extra credit: schmooze a free drink out of one of the vendors along the way.

We'll be bringing both food and beverages tonight for all, looking forward to working on some stuff!

So, what are the logistics? What should we have pre-loaded on our PC's? What dev environment do you recommend? Will there be WIFI? When will we wrap up? That sort of thing. : )

How is parking handled? I searched for info and found this:. It mentions 3hr parking spaces. Is there a new policy?

There is a parking garage just off Hudson street and in the same building as the Beehive (). After 5pm, there is unlimited parking (before then you need a permit). There are usually plenty of spots available after 5, so it's pretty ideal for this meetup :)
