1st Annual JavaScript Olympics

From: Shea Frederick (.
Sent on: Thursday, June 10, 2010 8:18 PM
Ready for a fun night of JavaScript code competition? Test your skilz against others to snatch the grand prize and title of "JavaScript Dorkus Maximus". Plus you might learn some new awesome ways to perform trivial tasks with JavaScript.

Events planned for the 1st games evening are:

1 ) Blind Coding - Perform a given task without being able to test your code in a browser, look at code examples or reference material. Basically, code from memory and don't use a browser to complete the task. Time will also be a factor. Beginner and advanced tasks categories will be available.

2 ) Size Matters - A task must be completed using the least amount of characters possible. Yeah, that's right, smaller is better.

All code created in the events must pass the JSLint test, and must run across all A grade browsers. Up to two libraries from a publicly available CDN or web site may be included for any given task.

Every code athlete will be tested to ensure there is an appropriate level of performance decreasing chemicals in your system. A GitHub account is recommended.

The winner will be given the title of "JavaScript Dorkus Maximus" which you may wish to decline if you happen to win. Some cool prizes go to the winners along with the title.

See you there.
