Katy Boardgame Meetup

We play a variety of boardgames, card games, and dice games every week. We are located in a room at the back of the Denny's. Come join the fun!

New people are always welcome. :)

If you take a look at some past Katy meetups you can find out which games have been played by us before.

Please note that this gaming get-together predates the Meetup group which means the massive majority of players never RSVP on this site. You may only see a handful of RSVPs here but we tend to get at least a dozen people (normally more) showing up every week.

We normally play from around 215pm to past midnight, with people showing up and leaving throughout the day, so come anytime!

*please do not bring food from home or other locations into Denny's*

Someone left a black backpack behind at this meetup containing Chaos in the Old World and a few other games. If anyone knows the owner please let them know that Collin is holding on to it and will bring it to the meetup next Saturday.

Sounds like it might be Ben's. I'll drop him a line and find out.

I just got home and the meetup was great! I played Love Letters, Saboteur, Cave Troll, Settlers of Catan, and Space Munchkin! I hadn't played any of these and I think the munchkin one was the hardest - lots of reading on that one! I think my 2 faves were Catan and SAboteur though I liked them all. wish I didn't have to work next weekend :-( never made it to Hawaii or the others I wanted to try.

Do you always meet just in Katy? I'm in the Heights and that's a pretty good distance away. Anyone know of another group that meets closer in town?

Check the calendar. There are meetings all over town. THIS Saturday meetup just happens to be in Katy.

Hi! I'm new to boardgames - went to the West U meetup Tuesday and it was fun - had a tough time learning the games I played but they were fun- esp Suburbia-though I was just starting to get the hang of it right before it ended! I've been reading online and see a bunch of 'classics' recommended a lot -does anyone have/play these and could teach me? - I saw one group playing one of the games - Settlers of Catan and it looked complicated but I watched a bit on youtube and it sounds like fun. also puerto rico, agricola, hawaii and some others looked interesting. I've ordered a few online but haven't gotten them yet. also I see some of these game are apps for the ipad - has anyone here tried these and if so are they good for when I don't have anyone to play with? wondering if they look like the game pieces and are played the same? sorry so long still trying to come to enough meetups to get a feel for what everyone plays. :-) I also like family boargames like Clue ;-) and trivial pursuit

Susanna, these hobby games probably will seem tough at first because they're just so different from the simple games we all grew up. I think you'll find though that it gets much easier as you go. Many of these games share certain aspects and you'll eventually be learning a game and thinking how one part is just like Settlers and one part is just like Stone Age, etc. I'm going to leave another comment here spelling out what I think I'm bringing this week, but you can always request games from my collection and I'll bring what I can. There's a link to my collection in my profile. See you on Saturday!

thanks Michael! from what I'm reading/seeing and briefly experienced I can see these are tougher games LOL but still fun and I think I'll catch on the more I play - if I don't have people running when they see me walk in LOL!

Haha, the group will still be there, Susanna! Lots of people go on Saturday and some stay until as late (early? ) as 3am, at times! ;)

Many thanks to Gabe, Doug and Lewis for playtesting my New York game. Truly appreciated the positive feedback. Sorry I had to leave at 5:30; 3 kids expect their traveling dad to be at home on weekends.
BTW, would love to get one more game in with the same group before pitching in February. Cheers!
