I've been looking for a fun, smart, not-too-rigid book club. Sounds like this one might fit the bill. And as a bonus it meets in back bay!

What Philip is saying about this Meetup Group

As I said, I really like this group. I'm a good deal older than most of, well really all of the participants, not that anyone has eve made me feel uncomfortable. In discussing this book, which deals with the building of the World Fair in Chicago in 1892, and the group couldn't quite grasp the idea of an event that could excite the whole country, except maybe the Olympics. I said that I could draw parallels to a book I had read about the New York World's Fair in 1964, and that as a kid, when we went there it was almost with the same awe and wonder that is described in the book almost a century earlier.
