Water For Elephants was a interesting look into the circus life during the depression . I thought the author showed the desperation not only of the circus but the desperation of so many people during the Great Depression era. The brutality of August that all the circus folk and animals endured was horrific. This was a fast and captivating read and I really loved the ending, although it was in most likelihood not very realistic.. It also showed the loneliness that so many old people feel when left in a retirement or nursing home without family to visit often..
