Join us for a special evening showcasing the golden age of concert band music featuring American patriotic music the evening before Independence Day. The Blawenburg Band is one of the oldest community bands in the state, founded in 1890 in Blawenburg, NJ. The members of the Band range in age from their teens to their nineties, and include teachers and students, research scientists, lawyers, computer specialists, homemakers and active retirees. Some players have years of training and professional experience, others learned to play as children and are dedicated amateurs.

Summer Courtyard Series: “Remembering Pete Seeger”, a tribute featuring the Spook Handy Quartet


Spook Handy is a nationally touring folk musician and New Jersey native who has had the fortune of performing over 50 concerts and festivals with Pete Seeger. With Pete as his mentor, Spook learned many of his songs and the stories behind them. Spook is joined by Paul Prestopino who backed up Peter Paul and Mary on tour and in the studio for 14 years, Bob Harris who toured and recorded with bluegrass legend Vassar Clements and Ron Greenstein who plays bass for the Chad Mitchell Trio. Spook was named "Best Folk Artist" by Upstage Magazine, Gannett New Jersey, The Courier News, The Home News and About.com. "Remembering Pete Seeger" is a tribute to one of America's most exemplary citizens and historical figures and who is recognized as one of America's greatest folk artists.

Easy Directions: Drive South on Rte. 1 until the Princeton area.  Turn Right at Harrison after passing over a little bridge.  Enter Princeton and please drive at the speed limit.  Go through the traffic light at Nassau and then go two more traffic lights and turn Right into the Princeton Shopping Center.  The concert is in the inner courtyard.

    I went with a friend. Because of the weather, the concert was held indoors in an empty store. The place was air-conditioned, but the doors were open. It was comfortable until the second half when it got warmer. The band was terrific.
