Boston has some amazing mobile robotics companies. Join us to hear about Piaggio Fast Forward and Vecna.
The meeting location is at Draper, near Kendall Square. The entrance is on Broadway, between Hampshire Street and Galileo Way. (NOT THE MAIN ENTRANCE!).
6:00 - 6:30: Networking & Pizza.
6:30 - 7:25: Speakers:
(1) Rosie Kotelova and Carlos Asmat (PFF) will talk about the design and development of the following robot gita. Gita’s sleek and simple form, paired with select sensors and actuators, enable it to follow people naturally and intuitively, carrying up to 40 lbs. (mygita.com)
(2) Ashwin Thangali: Vecna works with autonomous mobile (AMR) robots in warehouses. Monocular 3D geometric inference (cv::solvePnP) with visual features and ambient light provide a low-cost approach for high-precision navigation. Visual servo-ing using calibrated targets is an easily generalizable approach to solve navigational problems that have conventionally required infrastructure-heavy technologies. An application using autonomous fork lift trucks will be used to demonstrate the concept.
7:25 - 7:35: 1 min pitches
from audience. Need help? Looking for a job? Let us know.
7:35 on: More networking.
Parking: Parking is street parking or garage. There are a lot of meters nearby. The nearest garage is the Technology Square Garage, however the garages at 1 Broadway, 358 Kendall St, and 1 Memorial Dr (under the Microsoft NERD building) have much better rates after 5pm. (Please do not park in Draper employee parking.)
