Hi Neil,

Did something happen to prompt this? (I.e. anything I should be aware of for Thursdays?)

Subject:[japanese27] Some Reminders of What This Group Isn't

Hello all,

I just wanted to issue a friendly reminder of what this group is not.

1. The Boston Japanese and English Language Club is NOT a dating/singles group.

To paraphrase the "About" page, we are not the place for trying to pick up Japanese girls. We encourage friendships to happen and if a rela tionship naturally happens between consenting people, that's awesome. However, we have no tolerance for sexual harassment and doing so is grounds for getting thrown out of the group. Respecting each other's boundaries is how we ensure this group is a positive experience for everyone involved.

We also encourage our female members to speak up to the organizers if they feel uncomfortable at our events.

2. The Boston Japanese and English Language Club is NOT a pyramid scheme recruitment pool

As stated above, we encourage friendships to happen. Like with romantic relationships, if these friendships naturally lead to business networks growing, that's also awesome. However, this is not the place for trying to recruit people into your pyramid scheme (or Multi-level marketing scheme as it's often called, including Amway, Ambit, Vector, and Mary Kay to name a few).

If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me or any one of the other organizers. As always, we want everyone to come and have fun ultimately.
