See a Weeknight Movie: Stories We Tell

  • Jun 5, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

A Weeknight Movie Redux, uh, Redux!  (See below for more on this, and weeknight movie meetups in general.)

This Weds. evening come out and see Stories We Tell, easily one of the most critically-acclaimed movies of the year so far (e.g., Rotten Tomatoes, 95; Metacritic, 93...of course, ymmv) at the Kendall Sq. Cinema (map/directions).

The movie is a documentary by Sarah Polley, who's probably best known for Away from Her. It's been showing locally for two or three weeks now but, if you're like me, perhaps you haven't had a chance to see it yet.

Let's meet @ 6:30p to get seats for the 6:45p showing. If you have any trouble finding the group beforehand, or run late and want to join the group afterwards, text me at[masked]-9428. (I'll turn my phone off at exactly 6:45 and turn it back on early during the credits.)

After the movie we can go to a One Kendall Square standby such as The Friendly Toast or Cambridge Brewing Co. for an adult beverage, snack, and spirited discussion of the movie.

Weeknight movies

Some time ago I started scheduling weeknight movies for this group and both the interest and feedback were good. Unfortunately I then got too busy to maintain a schedule for the weeknight movies.

Later, another group organizers had great success and a longer run at scheduling weeknight movie meetups.

So I thought I'd give it a try again, likely on Wednesdays -- every other Weds.? once a month? never again (since I'm getting this first notice out so late)?  (Yipes!)

Given the short notice of this invitation (among other reasons), I expect a light turnout for this meetup, and maybe even that's optimistic!

However, if you don't attend this but *do* have interest in weeknight movie meetups, please do not reply to this notice...instead:

Click my name in the attendee list, click my profile's "Send email" link, and add a simple subject line like "weeknight movie interest."  Then put something in the mandatory-field body (or add any preferences such as theater location, etc. if you like), select the "Hide my email address field..." and Send.

Thanks in advance for helping me gauge the current interest (or lack thereof) in weeknight movie meetups.

Very creative production of the telling of a family's stories. Certain 'surprises' added to interesting comments and discussion after the film.

Movie sounds very intriguing. Sharing stories - mine and those of others - is an important theme in my life. Looking forward to the film and 'sharing' afterward! - VB

As it is for a weeknight movie that's been out for a few weeks, I'm not too worried about it selling out. (I think you can buy tickets online in advance for the Kendall Sq. Cinema generally though at its parent chain's site, landmarktheatres.com.)
